Beauty Short Course

Are you interested in a short sharp Beauty Course? We offer a choice of 3 different specialisations + retail skills. Each course will run over 2 days per week for 4 weeks. 

h1. About the course
This qualification will be delivered in a classroom environment by a qualified industry skilled trainer at Western Sydney Skills Hub at North Parramatta. Address – 410 Church St, Level 3, Suite 34, North Parramatta, NSW 2151. Please note that classes may not be available when you are reading this course description, but the college still encourages the potential candidates to register their interest by joining the waiting list (available at the bottom of this page).

h1. Delivery strategies
* Classroom delivery by experienced and industry skilled trainer
* Simulated in class experience
* Activities performed in the class
* Role play as required in a given unit of competency
* Audio/Video presentation to introduce learners with real life scenarios
* Self-paced trainer led activities to reinforce, extend and reflect on what has been learnt in the class

h1. Assessment strategies
Assessments for this qualification include both formative and summative assessments in the form of:

* Direct observation in a simulated work environment by a Trainer/ Assessor of this course
* Portfolio of evidence assessed by a Trainer/ Assessor of this course. This portfolio would also include workbooks completed at the students' own time,
* Critical Reflections of work undertaken in demonstrating skills
* Role plays and workplace simulation exercises where demonstration of skills cannot be achieved within the workplace;
* Presentation of information in the workplace or in a simulated work environment
* Written reports; and
* Knowledge based exercises which demonstrate key knowledge across subjects in the form of quizzes or short answer questions. 

h1. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
If you believe you have relevant skills and experience satisfying the competency requirement of this qualification, please consult with your trainer for the possibility of recognition. The trainer will provide you with a clear guideline on the RPL assessments and evidence requirements. You may choose to contact the college prior to enrolment to have a preliminary conversation about your current skills and experience. Please note that applying for RPL may not automatically result in issuing of the qualification or statement of attainment. No refund will be made if the RPL assessment results in a partial qualification or no qualification. However, you have the right to appeal for a review of the RPL decision. h1. Final outcome
Upon successful completion of all the required units of competency, you will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment from the SHB30121 - Certificate III in Beauty Services

SHBBFAS004 Provide lash and brow services + Retail

This course covers eyebrow shaping, eyebrow and eyelash tinting and eyelash lift.

You will learn how to map and structure the perfect brows and mix the perfect blend of tint to enhance your clients’ brows and lashes

It requires the ability to consult with clients, and select suitable products and equipment required to perform lash and brow services. Lash and brow services can be an individual treatment or form part of a series of treatments.

This course is suitable for beauticians and beauty therapists who work in beauty salons and students at an entry level. In this environment they make routine decisions within a defined range guided by manufacturer information and organisational policies and procedures.

SHBBMUP009 Design and apply make-up + Retail

Our Professional Makeup Course will teach you the key theoretical and practical skills to work as a makeup artist for all occasions, including formal occasions, bridal make up, cut crease, smokey eye or even on set for the fashion and entertainment industry!

Make up artistry services are constantly in high demand, and you can take advantage of this ever-increasing popularity. On successful completion of this course, you will be equipped with the skills to start your own home business or potentially land the perfect position in a salon

You will also learn how to consult with clients, analyse face and skin, and to demonstrate and apply make-up products to suit client needs or make-up brief.

This course is designed for beauticians and beauty therapists, retail assistants, and make-up freelancers who work in beauty salons, retail cosmetic outlets, and settings that provide make-up services. In this environment they make routine service decisions within a defined range and have knowledge and skills of a variety of make-up products and application techniques.

Course #3
SHBBBOS007 Apply cosmetic tanning products + Retail

Our Spray Tanning Online Course will help you become familiar with the equipment used by tanning technicians, the techniques used to apply tanning solution, how to prepare clients in advance of their treatment and how to prolong a tan.

You will also learn to consult with clients about tanning products and colour choice, select products and equipment to prepare the skin and apply tanning products using a spray tanning gun. The application of cosmetic tanning products can be an individual service, or form part of a series of services.

This course is designed for beauticians and beauty therapists who work in beauty salons and spas. In this environment they make routine service decisions within known procedures but work under limited supervision and guidance from others.
