Our Trainer led Self-paced learning allows our learner to study on their own time and schedule guided by a qualified Trainer. Once enrolled you will be allocated a Trainer and the Trainer will be meeting you via zoom prior commencement of every subject and brief you what are the requirements of the subject, provide a tour of the learner resources, assessment booklet and set expectation of the subject etc. In that way you are not wasting your time to look at the resources and figure everything out by yourself. Once the assessments are completed, you can then send it to the Trainer for feedback which will save a lot of your administration time.

Course description

Our Business Diploma course is your opportunity to develop business and leadership capabilities you can apply at work. It will help you develop the skills to plan, carry out and evaluate your own work and the work of a team. The Diploma course is practical and will be conducted in flexible hours. Tutorials will be available by arrangements with the trainer. Most topics can use real workplace tasks as evidence to complete your assessments. This course is ideal for people moving into supervisory and management roles at work. Recognition is available. All resources included. On successful completion of all assessments the qualification BSB50120 - Diploma of Business (Compliance) will be issued.

NSW Govt Funding

BSB50120 - Diploma of Business may be available on full subsidy or fee free under Skilling for Recovery funding (subject to the availability of funding) for eligible candidates. Apart from meeting the normal Smart and Skilled eligibility criteria (please visit, students enrolling under Skilling for Recovery must meet one of the following criteria:

• A young person aged 17 to 24 at commencement of training, regardless of employment status, including Year 12 School leavers • A person who is a recipient of a Commonwealth Government welfare benefit as specified in the Smart and Skilled Fee Administration Policy • An unemployed person • An employed person who is at risk of losing their job, for example:

  1. Stood down/Jobkeeper/furloughed employee: Employee that has been stood down or employee for whom employer has JobKeeper arrangement in place and at risk of becoming unemployed. Requires upskilling or reskilling for new role and employment elsewhere
  2. Person returning to work (employed for 6 months or less): employed on condition of receiving training to build capacity and capability for the job role. This would be within the first 6 months of employment
  3. Low skilled/unskilled employee: Existing employee, with or without relevant skills or previous qualification up to Certificate III, that requires training to upskill to secure ongoing employment or future employment
  4. Workers in declining industries: Workers at any company in an agreed declining industry (e.g. international travel industry) who require upskilling/reskilling for redeployment (approval required from the Department of Education)


Whilst there is no pre-requisite or entry requirements to enrol into this course, it is expected that you have strong language, literacy and numeracy skills to successfully complete the assessments in this qualification. Before enrolling, you will be required to attend a pre-course suitability test to understand your current language, literacy and numeracy skills. Acceptance into this qualification will depend on your performance in the suitability test. If significant gaps are identified in the suitability test, you will be offered a Foundation Skills program to help you attain minimum level of language, literacy and numeracy skills.

Who can enrol into this course?

This course has been designed for those who deal with administrative duties or recently worked in business areas of their workplace on a day to day basis. If you don’t have any exposure to administrative duties or have no experience working in an office environment, this qualification may not be appropriate for you.

Learning strategies

This qualification will be delivered in a classroom environment by a qualified industry skilled trainer at Western Sydney Skills Hub at North Parramatta. Address – 410 Church St, Level 3, Suite 34, North Parramatta, NSW 2151. Please note that classes may not be available when you are reading this course description but the college still encourages the potential candidates to register their interest by joining the waiting list (available at the bottom of this page). In class delivery includes:

• Classroom delivery by experienced and industry skilled trainer • Simulated in class experience • Activities performed in the class • Research and projects • Role play as required in a given unit of competency • Audio/Video presentation to introduce learners with real life scenarios • Self-paced trainer led activities to reinforce, extend and reflect on what has been learnt in the class

Assessment strategies

Assessments for this qualification include both formative and summative assessments and include questions and answers, portfolio of evidence, project assignments and third party report. You will be provided with assessment tasks at the beginning of your course during the face to face session.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

If you believe you have relevant skills and experience satisfying the competency requirement of this qualification, please consult with your trainer for the possibility of recognition. The trainer will provide you with a clear guideline on the RPL assessments and evidence requirements. As a general rule, you will need to produce current or recent workplace evidence to claim recognition for each of the 8 units of competency in this qualification. The assessor will check your evidence and make a decision, which will be either Competent or Not Yet Competent. If Not Yet Competent, you will be duly notified and asked to make a further submission. If you are still considered Not Yet Competent, we may offer you a gap tutorial, which will attract extra fee.

Final outcome

To receive the qualification BSB50120 - Diploma of Business, you will need to successfully complete all the required assessments. The assessor may ask you to provide further evidence if the first submission is found to be insufficient or non satisfactory. Full qualification for BSB50120 - Diploma of Business will be issued if you have successfully completed all units or Statement of Attainment for partial completion.
