Discover your roots! Learn how to search historical records, both manually and on the computer, to find out if your ancestors were royalty or convicts! This course will help you research your own family tree, but you could also use it to research other historical figures.

Below is an overview of what will be covered in the course:

• Basic principles of family history
• Finding and using birth, death and marriage certificates, parish records of baptism marriage and burial and other ways to find basic dates
• Using censuses and musters
• Using maps to locate your ancestor and help with your search
• Using newspapers, directories and electoral rolls for family history
• Finding your convict ancestor
• Finding your ancestor’s arrival in Australia
• Finding and using wills and administrations
• All about surnames
• Organizing and storing your research
• Evaluating the evidence and online and printed trees
• Using free and subscription web sites
