Overcoming Shyness

Do you find it difficult to start a conversation, or not feel confident about speaking to others? This workshop uses (NLP) neuro-linguistic programming techniques to change your thinking, which will in turn change your behaviour and increase your confidence. No Concession.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop participants will have:

• changed their thinking about themselves so that they feel more confident in interacting with others;
• determined the appropriate place for various people in their lives;
• modelled a person who interacts easily with others;
• established and appropriate psychological boundary between themselves and others;
• learnt how to start a conversation with a stranger;
• let go of negative emotions which hold them back;
• performed a number of different NLP techniques.

Methods Used
The workshop will be based on adult-learning principles and will be interactive. A series of NLP techniques will be used. Where appropriate, participants will be taught NLP techniques for use at home.

The workshop will cover:
• a brief explanation of what NLP is and how it works;
• the difference between introversion and shyness;
• creating appropriate boundaries between themselves and others;
• appropriate topics for opening up a conversation;
• how to establish and develop rapport;
• the importance of positive self-talk;
• setting goals for the future.

NLP utilises participants beliefs, values and decisions, and so a fundamental part of the workshop will be discussing these things with participants. NLP techniques include things such as brief, guided visualisations, the use of story-telling (metaphor) and a range of other techniques.
