Gap training for upgrade to TAE40116
Before you enrol into this course, please check if you already hold TAE40110 and TAEASS502 and TAELLN411. If not, please do not enrol into this course as this won't make you eligible for upgrading to TAE40116. If any gap in the above combination of competencies is identified after the enrolment, you may not receive a refund. Please also note if you have TAA40104, which is the older version of TAE40110, you cannot enrol into this course. Please make sure your old TAE qualification is TAE40110 (not TAA40104) before you enrol.
This course closes the gap between the previous TAE40110 Certificate IV Training and Assessment and the newer TAE40116 where two units TAEASS401 and TAEASS403 aren't equivalent to their superseded versions. TAEASS401 - Plan assessment activities and processes now contains the following element.
Identify modification and contextualisation requirements
Use information from the candidate and, where relevant, the candidate's workplace to identify contextualisation needs
Check advice provided by the training package or course developer relevant to identified contextualisation needs
Analyse existing assessment tools and record amendments required to address identified contextualisation needs
Determine opportunities for integrated assessment activities and record any changes required to assessment tools
and TAEASS403 Participate in assessment validation now has new and updated performance criteria as follow:
Participate in the validation of assessment tools
Demonstrate active and appropriate participation in validation sessions and activities using agreed communication methods and modes
Apply principles of assessment and rules of evidence during validation sessions and activities
Check that context and conditions of assessment include clear instructions for assessor and candidate and relate directly to the assessment conditions of the relevant unit
Check that tasks to be administered to the candidate include clear and concise instructions and an outline of evidence requirements
Check that assessment decision-making rules and benchmarks, are clear and enable consistent outcomes
Check that recording mechanisms are clear and allow for sufficient information to be recorded
Review and use assessment maps to assist in determining validity of assessment instruments
Contribute to validation outcomes
Discuss validation findings to support improvements in the quality of assessment in a collective environment
This is a workshop for those who already hold TAE40110 qualification with the older units - TAEASS401B and TAEASS403B and wishes to upgrade to the new TAE40116 qualification. Please note that you will also need to complete TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools and TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills if you haven't already done so.
Is it necessary for me to do the course?
No, it's not necessary to complete this gap training if you wish to keep using your TAE40110 qualifications and you have TAEASS502 and TAELLN411. However, if you wish to upgrade to TAE40116, you will also need to complete this gap training.
How much is the cost to upgrade to TAE40116?
If you have completed your TAEASS502 and TAELLN411 (or the superseded version) with the Parramatta Community College, the only cost is the fee for this gap training i.e. $250. If you completed these units from another RTO, your cost will be the fee for gap training i.e. $250 + $200 ($100 for each unit) for the overall upgrade = $450
If you have the superseded units such as TAEASS502B and TAELLN401A or TAELLN401B that you completed with another RTO, there will be $100 fee for each unit to apply for the current version (i.e. $200) + the fee for the gap training (i.e. $250) + $200 for the overall upgrade = $650. Please refer to our Student Handbook for the fee and refund policy: https://www.parramattacollege.com.au/handbook.

In case, learners are unable to find a real life workplace for their project, a simulation may be arranged in the classroom. The candidate must show evidence of the ability to complete tasks outlined in the elements and performance criteria of this unit.
What does the assessment involve?

Is this course for me?
You may be thinking why you should do this course as you may not be even teaching training package qualifications or skill sets. As a general rule, you don’t need a TAE qualification if you are delivering only non-accredited components and not involved in assessing competency. However, some employers such as TAFE still wants their trainers to have the TAE qualification. If so, please consult with your employer to understand their requirements before you enrol.
