About the course
Do you want to work as Teacher’s Assistant or work in a School Setting, then this course would be the right choice for you. Teacher’s Aides play a pivotal role in children’s development. Therefore, this course designed to prepare participants working within an education environment to support students and qualified educators.
This course is ideal for who wants to kick start their career in entry level positions in education environments including schools, kindergartens, preschools, school age care or other education environment. The Aide’s not only provide assistance and support to teachers but also responsible for supervising and facilitating children’s activities inside the classroom as well as outside during playtime. The course is expected to meet the training needs involve working effectively with students include managing behaviour, supporting student development, and learning within curriculum framework, working with diverse people, follow legal and ethical framework, child protection etc. It also covers all the necessary skills, techniques, strategies required to contribute to students learning and development needs in school setting involving feedback skills, best questioning techniques, assist teachers for smooth operational needs in classroom or in educational setting.
This qualification will be delivered in a classroom environment by a qualified industry skilled trainer at Western Sydney Skills Hub at North Parramatta. Prerequisites
All practical tasks must be completed in workplace or in a school setting. Therefore, students are responsible to find volunteer placements or paid work placements.
Whilst there are no prerequisites for this course, it is expected that you have adequate language, literacy and numeracy skills and computer skills to be able to interact with peers, trainers and completing assessments using a computer either in the classroom, at home or at your workplace.

Delivery Strategies
This course will be delivered in a face-to-face classroom-based environment one day per week with an additional one Zoom evening support session per week. A qualified and skilled trainer will guide your through. Self-paced option is also available. Learning strategies include role play, case study, demonstrations, lectures, and classroom activities etc. All participants will be supported by our qualified and skilled team throughout their learning journey.
You have twelve months to complete this course from the date of commencement.
Assessment Strategies
Assessments for this qualification include both formative and summative assessments which involve a variety of activities including knowledge questions, case studies, presentations, projects, demonstration, observations etc. All participants will be supported by our qualified and skilled team throughout their learning journey.
Resource Requirements
Learner manuals will be provided at no further cost than the course fee. This course requires the use of computer and internet either in the classroom or at the students’ home or workplace to research the relevant legislations, industry standards and to develop relevant workplace documents.

How much work is involved in completing the course?
Please note assessments for this course involve significant work both during and after the sessions. 10 to 15 hours of study is expected every week. You will have maximum of two attempts to submit your assessments in each unit of competency. If you are considered Not Yet Competent after the second submission, you may choose to undertake a gap tutorial, which will attract further fee.
NSW Govt Funding
NSW Govt funding may be available for this qualification for eligible candidates. Please visit www.smartandskilled.nsw.gov.au to do a preliminary check of your eligibility. Alternatively, you can complete the Application Form and send it to admin@pcc.edu.au. Make sure you save the completed application form in PDF before emailing.
Course Fee $6,500
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
If you believe you already have skills and experience relevant to the competencies of this course, please let the trainer know for a recognition. Please note that applying for RPL may not automatically result in the issuing of the skill set. In case of any gaps found, you will be advised of those gaps and asked to provide further evidence against your RPL claim. If you are still considered Not Yet Competent (NYC), you may be offered a tutorial for those gaps, which will incur further cost.
Competency outcome
On successful completion of all the assessments, you will be awarded with an AQF Certificate from CHC30221 - Certificate III in School Based Education Support.
Please do not enrol online if you find yourself eligible for NSW Govt subsidy. Just send us the completed enrolment form (https://www.parramattacollege.com.au/enrol), a copy of your Centrelink Statement if you receive Commonwealth Welfare benefit and a copy of your photo ID. We will then let you know how much subsidy you are entitled to.
